How to Improve Blog Indexing on Google
Improve blog indexing on Google with these tactics that has helped me since launching my websites. Launching a blog is one thing and ranking it on google search is another. When I interact with bloggers, the most asked questions is “how do i improve my blog rankings on Google?”.
There are a lot of factors that needs to be taken into account before answering this questions.
First, you need to get your posts indexed in the search engine. It takes a some time to index page depending on where it is syndicated or how soon Google crawls your website.
Unless you website is an authority website that has been posting regularly for some time now, google are unlikely to crawl your blog very frequently. In this post we will look into a few tactics that can be implemented to get your posts indexed and also how you can improve your blog’s ranking on search results.
Improve Blog Indexing Using Google Search Console:
If you haven’t connected your blog to the google search console, then that should be the first thing you do. It is not difficult as most bloggers believe but it needs be done as soon as the website is usually setup. If you haven’t, this is how you do it:
Login to google Search Console (Webmasters tool previously), then submit your blog sitemap after verifying your ownership.
This lets Google have better tracking and it will give you insights about technical aspects of your blog. Once the sitemap is submitted google will crawl your blog and notify you of any errors that it encounters during the crawl. This is crucial as fixing it will be help you improve your ranking.
Errors in code, frequent downtime and links from bad neighborhood, puts your site in the wrong side of google and might result in penalties.
Make sure that you check your console dashboard at least once a month if not weekly. That been said, you need not be feverish or anxious about checking your dashboard daily(experience) which will only lead you to information overload and analysis paralysis which is unnecessary for any blogger.
Just make sure that everything is working properly and you are good to move on to the next part. Preparing your blog for better ranking is more of a hygiene check than a series a tasks. One step you can include, if you have new blog or new posts that have not been indexed yet is to use the feature called Fetch as Google.
Improve Blog Indexing Using Social Post Syndication:
Google will crawl your website once submitted and then index your pages. Apart from this you can also start syndicating your posts through social media to get them indexed much faster. Social media sites like Facebook, twitter and Pinterest are crawled every hour and google will index your pages once they find the links on these platforms
.If you are using the Craft System for Content Creation, you can use different parts of the content to be syndicated through other platforms.
Apart from these platforms, you can also create a YouTube video and link back to your blog or post to get it indexed by google much faster.
There is nothing to worry even if you post on these sites and google doesn’t index the same day. Sometimes I have done the same and found that the pages get indexed after 3 or 4 days.
Once you post or update your blog, head over to google and search your website with the “site:” operator. It will look something like this:
And one it is indexed, it will look something like this:
Also check your WordPress settings for the infamous hide from search engine checkbox.
This option will disable the feature of search engines crawling your website which is not desired if you are trying to improve your rankings.
In case you are facing difficulty in indexing your website, you can also use services like indexification.com , lindexed.com and onehourindexing.co to improve blog indexing. In my opinion, you don’t need them unless you want them to indexed as soon possible.
The best way is to wait it out and post more frequently on your blog so that they get indexed quickly from faster crawls from Google.
